Donald Cheng, Vice President & General Manager, KAMET Manufacturing Solutions

Donald Cheng is currently the Vice President and General Manager of KAMET Manufacturing Solutions, an international value added provider of Engineering, Build to Print and Contract Manufacturing services for the Hi-Tech Semiconductor, Medical and Aerospace/Defense Industries. Reporting to the CEO, he is responsible for all aspects of growth and profitability of the corporation.

Additionally, Mr. Cheng is an industry Educator and Consultant working with knowledge brokers like Gerson Lehrman Group, Coleman Research, Guidepoint Global, Primary Insight, Cognolink and Selby Jennings to educate and increase clients’ understanding of technology and trends.

Mr. Cheng has more than 25 years of multi-industry experience, most recently as the Head of Global Production Engineering and Operations Research at Applied Materials, Inc. During his 15 year tenure at Applied Materials, Mr. Cheng held a variety of Executive leadership positions including Global Supply Chain Management, Total Quality Management, and Manufacturing Operations. During his tenure, Applied Materials delivered record revenues, implemented strategic global sourcing strategies, implemented LEAN manufacturing and seen consistent improvement in overall delivered system quality.

Prior to Applied Materials, Mr. Cheng spent over 8 years in the Aerospace & Defense Industry, most notably at Lockheed Space Operations where he was a Systems Engineer developing automated cloud hardware switching system using knowledge based AI heuristics.

Mr. Cheng holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology.
