MBA Career Services Council (CSC) Sessions


MBA Career Services Council (MBA CSC) – Asia Recruiting and Career Services Trends and Issues -- a Special Meeting for Company and School Representatives Hosted by the MBA CSC 

 

The MBA CSC Sessions will focus on recruiting and career services trends and best practices in Asia.

 

This half-day post-forum event is designed for recruiters, hiring managers, and company representatives, and for career services and university officials from graduate business schools who are attending the 2nd annual NAAMBA Global Career Forum in Hong Kong. There is no extra fee to attend this program for registered Career Forum attendees.

 

Meet fellow hiring managers and school officials. Learn about the MBA Career Services Council, best practices, and graduate business recruiting and career services trends and issues. Hear from graduates of our schools who are living and working in Asia, and learn about the MBA Career Services Council Asian Expansion Initiative.

 

Your Program Hosts are Karen Dowd, University of Denver Daniels College of Business; Vinika Rao, INSEAD-Singapore; Ann Nowak, Liberty Mutual Insurance; and Mark Peterson, Iowa State University and President, MBA Career Services Council.

 

Schedule:

 

1:00-1:15pm -- Welcome; meet and greet; overview of the MBA Career Services Council (MBA CSC) and its Europe and Asia Initiatives  (Sung Room I, Level 4) 

 

Network with attending hiring managers and school representatives; meet current and former MBA CSC Board members; learn about the benefits the organization has to offer to graduate business schools and corporate recruiters and about the plans to expand services for schools and employers in Asia.

For Schools: Overview of the MBA Career Services Council (MBA CSC) Standards for Reporting MBA Employment Statistics and their potential application by business schools in Asia  (Sung Room I, Level 4) -- are you interested in learning more about how schools report their employment data for purposes of rankings and surveys? Learn about the Standards the MBA CSC developed to bring transparency, fairness and consistency to this process. Members of the MBA CSC will present information on how the Standards are now being applied in Europe and the resources available to assist member schools in Asia in working with the Standards.

For Employers: Employer Roundtable  (Sung Room II, Level 4) -- recruiting trends and hiring practices in Asia

 

Share and learn from your global colleagues. Discussion will open to address your challenges and successes regarding hiring in Asia. A wonderful opportunity to share, learn and develop a peer network in Asia.

2:25-3:25pm -- Trends in Graduate Management Recruiting and Hiring  (Sung Room I, Level 4)  -- trends in companies that recruit MBAs for careers in Asia

 

Representatives of the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the professional association for accredited graduate business schools worldwide, will present information from current research on the recruiting outlook, employment trends, economic factors in Asia, salaries, types of companies recruiting MBA/MS graduates, and qualities sought by recruiters. The content will be specific to companies seeking to recruit professionals for positions in Asia and to schools seeking to place their students in Asia.

 

Presenters:  Julia Herries,  Regional Director-Asia Pacific, GMAC, with assistance from Danielle Jervis, Associate Director, Marketing-Asia Pacific, GMAC and Michelle Sparkman Renz, Director, Research Communications, GMAC

3:30-4:30pm -- Alumni Panel: Working in Asia  (Sung Room I, Level 4) -- panel of business school alumni who live and work in Asia 

 

A panel of recent MBA grads who have launched their career in Asia will provide insights to employers and universities on the economy and how it is affecting business, job opportunities and hiring, cultural differences in the work place, and hints for US and Asian organizations planning on hiring in Asia. This workshop will be driven by questions from the audience.
