ABOUT THE CASE COMPETITION:

 

NAAMBA Global Case Competition, launched in 2011, offers participants an opportunity to partake in a rigorous competition comprising of academic and practical components. The competition tests subject-matter knowledge, creativity, ingenuity, willingness to ‘think outside of the box’, and the ability to use business acumen to find answers to real world challenges.

ELIGIBILITY:

 

  • Competition is open to current graduate students.
  • Competing teams must consist of 3 - 4 members.
  • Team members must be from the same school.
  • All participants must be available to participate in the 4th Annual NAAMBA Leadership Conference & Exposition, September 13-15, 2012 in Santa Clara, CA. Conference details can be found here.
  • Only one team is eligible to participate from each participating university.

 

 

GUIDELINES:

 

  • Above noted topic is the ONLY topic which will be provided for the Case Competition. The Executive Summary as well as the full case is to be formulated based on this topic.
  • Complete registration must be submitted online by a nominated Career Services representative.
  • Each team must designate a team leader. The team leader will act as the primary point of contact. The Executive Summary must be submitted by the team leader.
  • All students participating in the case competition must submit a current resume/CV.
  • All submissions (letter of intent, resume/CV, executive summary) must be submitted online.
  • All team members must be a NAAMBA Graduate Level Member. Membership must be purchased prior to submitting the letter of intent.
  • Membership ID will be required during the online registration and submission process.

  • All submissions will be judged by a judging panel.

RECOGNITION AND AWARD:

 

  • 3 Semi-Finalist teams will be invited to attend the 4th Annual NAAMBA Leadership Conference & Exposition including Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony.
  • 3 Semi-Finalist team members will be recognized in the conference marketing collateral including but not limited to the conference program book with circulation of up to 3,000 copies.
  • 3 Semi-Finalist teams will present at the 4th Annual NAAMBA Leadership Conference.
  • Winning team will present (encore) its Case and be recognized at the prestigious Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony.

July 5, 2012 Letter of Intent to enter the Case Competition due.
Must be submitted by Career Services Representative.

Deadline for Case Competition registration (online), to include:
- Full Name, Email Address, Membership ID, Resume/CV of each team member
- Executive Summary (Maximum 2 pages)
July 26, 2012 6 Quarter-Finalist teams announced.
August 6, 2012
[Round 2]
Full Case Due from 6 Quarter-Finalist teams.
August 15, 2012 3 Semi-Finalist teams announced, and invited to 4th Annual NAAMBA Leadership Conference & Exposition including Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony.
September 13, 2012
[Round 3]
3 Semi-Finalist teams present their case to a judging panel during the Conference.
Winning team is selected and announced.
September 14, 2012 Winning team gives an encore presentation at the Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony and is presented with the Award.

FAQs:

 

1. How or when is the Letter of Intent submitted?

The Letter of Intent is when your Career Services Representatives submits each team members' details (here), including resume/CVs, and Executive Summary.

 

2. Will participating teams receive any additional information on the topic?

No, "How Can Social Media Be Used to Empower Marginalized Communities?" will be the only topic provided. Submissions for all 3 Rounds (Executive Summary, Full Case, and Case Presentation) must be based on the topic.

 

3. What is an acceptable format for the Executive Summary?

The Executive Summary should be all text (maximum 2 pages in length).

 

4. What is an acceptable format for the Full Case (applies only to Quarter-Finalist Teams)?

The Full Case can be a combination of, both, text and diagrams. It should be in Word or PDF-format, and maximum 10-pages in length.

 

5. Is a travel stipend provided for Semi-Finalist Teams?

No, however, room accommodation will be provided: 2 Rooms per each Semi-Finalist Team.
